Ms. Debbie Nez-Manuel (Diné) is a citizen of the Navajo Nation and married while raising her family in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community has professional accomplishments that have profound impacts on humanities and communities in Arizona.
Debbie earned her Master’s of Social Work from ASU coupled with her advanced degree in Nonprofit Leadership Academy ASU, Ms. Nez-Manuel’s strong professional training is evidenced in her proactive community leadership and public service.
Debbie currently serves as a Consultant to promote equity and social engagement among Native American communities and peoples. Notably, Ms. Nez-Manuel also continues to have a long-term instrumental leadership role that led to the recent signing by Governor Ducey of HB2570. This bill created a Study Committee charged with developing a state-wide plan to examine and reduce the murder and missing Indigenous women and girls (MMIWG). Given her expertise and leadership, she currently serves as the Co-Chair of the MMIWG Data Sharing Committee.
In January of 2020, Debbie was elected as the first elected Native American Democratic National Committee member in Arizona. Today, Debbie remains a fierce engaged community leader in mobilizing community members to be strong, productive, healthy, and resilient people.
