Mark Robert Gordon (MRG), an Arizona native, has been involved with Democratic campaigns since the early 1980s, a national voting rights watchdog since the early 1990s, and has spent three decades as an election protection/civil rights/entertainment attorney and as a professional actor/director/writer/producer (30-year union member: AFL-CIO and stage-and-screen actor, director, writer unions). MRG has nearly three decades’ experience as a voting rights watchdog, having designed, run, and participated in election integrity programs for political parties, candidates, and NGOs nationwide, and having served as an election protection and voting rights attorney. In addition to his current work and roles as a DNC member, he has years of experience working with the DNC’s Voter Protection program, traveling around the country to ensure elections work properly and that every voter’s voice is protected.

MRG is the founder of Voting Rights Fund (a federal and state PAC), co-chair of the Arizona Democratic Law Professionals Association, founder of the Arizona Democratic Small Business Council, and a longtime elected Arizona Democratic State Committee Member and Precinct Committeeman. He was a 2018 candidate for Arizona Secretary of State, served over 4 years as Maricopa County Democratic Party’s election integrity director, and was a delegate to the 2016 and 2020 Democratic National Conventions. His deep roots in Democratic politics began with volunteering for Gary Hart in the 1984 Presidential primaries, serving as a young staffer on (former DNC member) Carolyn Warner’s 1986 campaign for Arizona Governor, and working for Congressman Morris “Mo” Udall. He has since served as a strategist, advisor, attorney, staffer, and/or speechwriter to federal, state, and local candidates up-and-down the ballot and nationwide.

In addition to voting rights and election protection, his law practice also focuses on arts and entertainment, including representation of celebrities, theater and stage producers and artists, intellectual property monitoring, and introductions for high-end visual art transactions. MRG has logged hundreds of pro bono-hours for not-for-profits, arts organizations, and civil rights/anti-discrimination matters.
As a stage and screen entertainer and writer, he has enjoyed a long entertainment career as a critically-acclaimed New York stage-and-screen actor/writer/director/producer and print model. He is the founding artistic director of Off-Broadway’s Do Gooder Productions, which developed and produced several new plays for the American stage and worked in partnership with designated charities on its productions. His production company The Camelback Kid (Walter Mathau’s nickname for this actor from Phoenix) programmed theater facilities in New York and Florida, produced theater and events in New York and regionally, and holds the rights to and is developing a few stage-to-screen projects.

MRG attended Phoenix inner city public schools and earned degrees from Princeton University (Public & International Affairs/Afro-American Studies), Columbia Law School, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Current projects and boards include: Arizona Copper Trail (celebrating and providing community service to Arizona’s points of pride), Friends of Phoenix Public Art, Board Developer Foundation, and his alumni associations. Proud son of a (late-) disabled WWII veteran/artist and public school teacher.
