The Democratic Party elects leaders who fight for equality, justice, and opportunity for all. The DNC and your AZ DNC Members are working to build a strong Democratic Party capable of lifting Democrats all across the country to victory, from the state house, to Congress, to the White House. Each victory will take all of us – candidates, supporters, and the DNC – working together here in every corner of every county of Arizona and in every state and territory of this nation.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is the governing body for the national Democratic Party and is the oldest continuing party committee in the United States. The DNC is composed of the chairs and vice-chairs of each state Democratic Party Committee, over 200 members elected by Democrats in all 56 states and the territories as well as Democrats abroad, a delegation of elected officials (leaders selected from the U..S. House and Senate, Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Secretaries of State, Attorneys General, Treasurers, Mayors, Municipal and County officials), several constituent groups, and at-large members. The DNC directs resources to states to help elevate priorities by state and local parties, and to specific candidates and campaign committees.
The DNC body that basically governs the Democratic party nationwide as chapters in all 50 states as well as the chapters abroad.
The DNC has approximately less than 500 people who determine where resources go in terms of priorities for Democrats on the federal level.
The DNC has fewer members than are elected to the U.S. House and Senate combined. These DNC members determine policies and priorities for Democrats on the federal level so that the state and local parties can succeed.
